Floodlit Dreams are delighted to welcome Jane Purdon, former CEO of Women in Football and author of The Homecoming in our Football Shorts series, to the team, specialising in promotion and marketing of our titles. She joins founder Ian Ridley and director Seth Burkett.
Jane Purdon has worked at the highest levels of English football for nearly a quarter of a century, with roles including Club Secretary and Solicitor at Sunderland AFC, Director of Governance at the Premier League before becoming CEO of Women in Football. Jane now has a varied portfolio of roles in the game.
In 2013, Jane started a creative writing course to do something completely different, which eventually led her to graduating in 2022 with a distinction in her Master of Fine Arts degree in creative writing from Manchester Metropolitan University. Jane’s first book, The Homecoming, was published by Floodlit Dreams in 2023 and she is currently working on a novel.
Ian Ridley said: “Jane will bring a huge skill set to Floodlit Dreams not only from her experience in working in sport but also her keen editorial eye and feel for sports literature. Jane was a pleasure to work with when she wrote The Homecoming and will fit in perfectly with our ethos of publishing books that have fine writing at their core.”
Jane Purdon said ‘I’m delighted to have the opportunity to work alongside Ian and Seth. All three of us are published authors as well as publishers, so we know every step of the journey from first idea to books landing in stores. Floodlit Dreams has brought some fantastic books to the market and there’s an amazing opportunity for us to do more. Securing a name like Jimmy Mulville as the first author under our new management structure is a real coup. There’s Gonna Be A Show is a cracking book, the first of many more to come from Floodlit Dreams’.
